♡ Biography
During her childhood, she discovered Mini Moni., a Morning Musume. sub-unit which was active between 2000 and 2004, and really loved them at the time.
Her father was transferred to the United States, and she stayed there for eight years in total: in the state of Illinois from 2001 to 2004, and then in Alabama from 2004 to 2010. There, she learned dance by attending the Applause fine arts schools. Her goal was to become a MV backdancer for Miley Cyrus, since she was a huge fan of Hannah Montana.
She came back to Japan in 2010, at the age of 11.
In September 2013, she took the TOEIC and got 795 points, being the best student of her session (according to the ETS Global, this score attests that the student can understand complex topics and express themselves in a fluent way in English).
In 2014, she participated in Morning Musume.'14's "Golden Audition" and succesfully passed the final step. She officially joined the group in September as a member of the 12th generation, and debuted a few months later with the single "Seishun Kozou ga Naiteiru / Yuugure wa Ameagari / Ima Koko Kara".
She graduated from middle school on March 20, 2015, and entered high school in April.
From February to December 2018, she worked as an official NBA ambassador for the Los Angeles Lakers with RakutenTV. She traveled in the United States multiple times that year for work, and had a lot of great and interesting opportunities, like interviewing Kyle Kuzma.
From December 2018 to February 2019, she became the first Morning Musume. member to take a short break from her activities for study purposes. During two months, she traveled overseas to improve her English skills, and missed the annual Hello! Project Winter Tour.
On June 11, 2019, she opened her official Instagram account.
On October 7, 2020, she announced that she was attending Waseba University since her high school graduation, taking the e-school English course.
On January 15, 2021, she released her first solo photobook: To be myself.
In August 2021, she was appointed MVP during Hello! Project presents... "Solo Fes! 2", a special TV show featuring all Hello! Project members and presenting solo performances. She won after performing a special remix of Akai Earphone by ANGERME that she arranged by herself.
On October 23, TV Asahi Channel 1 aired Miki Nonaka presents... Morning Musume. '21 ~SONGS FOR YOU~, her first self-produced TV show featuring all Morning Musume. members, as a prize for her winning Solo Fes! 2. During the show, she performed alongside the group, and also had the opportunity to publicly unveil her two first original songs: "Swing Town" and "Message".
On July 10, 2022, it was officially announced during a concert that Miki would be the mentor of Sakurai Rio, who just had joined the group as the 16th generation member. Her role would therefore consist in guiding her and helping her accommodation to the group's activities.
On July 29, it was announced that Miki tested positive for COVID-19 for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic: both of her routine antigenic tests returned positive. Her appearances at a M-line Special 2022 ~My Wish~ concert planned for July 31st, and Japan Special City Hall Village Hall got cancelled. The day after, she announced she would be taking a break from social media until her recovery.
On October 3, 2023, she announced that she graduated from Waseda e-School of Human Sciences through posts on her blog and on Instagram.
On October 7, she released her second photobook: daydream.
On October 9, during the fanclub event she held to celebrate her 24th birthday, she unveiled a new solo self-composed solo song: "Timing".
♡ Special role in Hello! Project
Immediately, she was appointed the role of "グローバル担当" (global tantou"; "global representative member" of the group). Thanks to her English skills, her mission is to communicate with international fans and share Morning Musume. and Hello! Project love with them. She currently does it in many ways:
• Posting messages and videos on Hello! Project Link's Twitter and Facebook accounts.
• Making English speeches during some concerts and TV shows in Japan (like J-MELO on NHK World).
• Hosting Q&As in English for worldwide fans.
• Often singing English lines in Hello! Project songs.
• Speaking English during overseas concerts and events.
